Parents Learn New Skills at Paint Night

It was an expressive, fun, and colorful evening.

John G. Carlisle Elementary School recently hosted a parent paint night coordinated by the FRC (Family Resource Center) and CLC (Community Learning Center).

Parents were given an opportunity to learn to paint on canvas and provided step by step instructions by Quinn Battiste, owner of Battiste Imagery and instructor for programming provided by The Carnegie at Covington Independent Public Schools.

Adult participants chose to paint a landscape. Starting from a blank canvas, they followed the detailed instructions of Battiste while listening to background relaxing music.

It didn't take long for the new artists to make progress and then feel accomplished once completing their masterpieces. Participants shared their work with others, enjoyed laughter with new and old friends, and used the character strength of creativity to complete the work.

It was a fun, interactive event the participants will remember each time they look at their completed artwork.

The school hopes to have other similar events in the future after such success and positive feedback from participants.
