This week, the first Holmes Campus Community Forum, a meeting to inform the community of funding allocated to Holmes Campus (Holmes Middle School and Holmes High School) from the Prichard Committee, as well as receive feedback from the community on how best to utilize the funds, was held. Family Game Night = Fun and Learning
Families recently joined staff at Sixth District Elementary School for an interactive game night sponsored by the Dolphin Zone Community Learning Center.  Throughout the evening, students and families visited several game stations focused on varying math concepts, including charting, subtraction, multiplication, and measurement. Students practiced counting on an abacus, charted their favorite foods and sports, utilized pop fidget toys for arithmetic operations, practiced patterns with tangrams, and much more. ...
A Junior Paleontologist's Dream Come True
Children gazed into colorful viewfinders with their mouths open, amazed at pictures of long-dead dinosaurs. The science exploration was part of Cincinnati Museum Center’s Programs on Wheels that made a stop recently at the John G. Carlisle Elementary School Community Learning Center in Covington. The museum staff also brought several plastic totes filled with dirt for the budding paleontologists to dig through to find bones and other fossils. STEAM Through the Lens of a BMX Bike
In partnership with the BMX STEAM Program and USA BMX Foundation, students at the Holmes High School Community Learning Center are experiencing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) through the lens of a BMX bike. The new enrichment club provides hands-on, project-based learning mixed with a strong physical fitness element and a whole lot of fun.
