Covington Partners Goes Platinum

20-Year Anniversary Gala

Founded in 1999 by Dr. Janice Wilkerson, Covington Partners has since increased program offerings at all Covington schools, in turn, extending the scope and reach of our five focus areas, out-of-school time, mentoring, prevention, health and wellness, and family engagement. We continue to grow through our vast community partnerships, enabling us to provide the best possible services to a greater number of youth and families. The first meeting of what was then called the Covington Community Partners for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention was held on September 14, 1999. Twenty years later, Covington Partners is celebrating our successes and planning for the next twenty years of helping the youth of Covington reach their full potential in school and in life.

Join us for dinner, dancing, and a night of celebration at our first gala event on September 27, 2019. Sponsored by Chuck and Julie Geisen Scheper, our platinum gala will honor Brent Cooper, Vicki Dansberry, Alvin Garrison, Lynda Jackson, Jack Moreland, and The Salyers Group. The event will begin with a cocktail hour and include a plated dinner, silent auction, awards, after-party, and more. Black-tie optional, the event will be emceed by Kathrine Nero and co-hosted by Chuck and Julie Geisen Scheper, Kurt and Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, and Dr. Janice Wilkerson.

How YOU can become a Covington Partner!

Join one of our Community Collaborative teams and help design and implement programs that reduce barriers to academic achievement in Covington. You can choose to be a part of Family & Community Engagement, Health & Wellness, Out-of-School Time, Latino Student Success or the Holmes High School Support Services team. The individual collaboratives meet monthly to discuss strategies and all teams come together quarterly for updates and to share success stories. For more information, contact Ashley McClure at 859.392.3176 or

When you mentor ONE student, you can change TWO lives. We offer mentoring programs to fit all busy schedules. Lunch Buddies is an opportunity to eat lunch with an elementary student once a week in the school cafeteria. Bulldog Connection matches 6th – 12th grade students with a positive adult 21 years or older in a school based or community based setting. To become a mentor, contact Renee Mains at 859.392.3188 or

Please consider financially supporting Covington Partners; your generosity can sponsor the work of a Collaborative team or sponsor the cost of a mentoring match for the school year. No matter the amount, your financial gift enables us to sustain successful, results-orientated programs for Covington students and families. To make a donation, please use our online donation form.
