Covington Schools to Host Multiple Summer Learning Opportunities for Students

Covington Partners is proud to collaborate with Covington Independent Public Schools this summer to host multiple summer learning opportunities for students of all ages at school sites throughout the district.

The opportunities include:

Camp Carnegie: The Other Side 
Imagine a character’s transformation as they navigate life through another’s perspective. How does this new perspective affect their choices? This summer, students will explore “the other side” as they develop characters, devise plot lines, and share their stories of acceptance live on the Jack Moreland Auditorium stage the last day of programming. Camp Carnegie includes hands-on art making, character design, costume construction, dramatic exercises, writing, problem solving, and so much more! Lunch is will be served.

Dates and Times: Monday, June 11 – Friday, June 15; 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. 

Site: Holmes High School (Jack Moreland Auditorium) 

Grades Served: Students entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2018

Camp Checkmate: Chess Symposium
Chess is a unifying activity with strategic, analytical, and real-world applications of intellectual endurance, conflict resolution, and individual survival skills. During Camp Checkmate, students will enjoy creating individual chess sets, learning defensive strategies, gaining offensive tactics, entertaining expert guest speakers, and practicing formal tournament conduct. Lunch will be served.

Dates and Times: Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22; 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Grades Served: Students entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2018

Be SmART: A Summer Arts Workshop 
Students will learn from professional artists in the disciplines of drawing, painting, photography, graphic design and creative writing, and will go on a field trip to the Contemporary Arts Center in downtown Cincinnati, OH. Each participant will receive their very own Artist Book – a collection of the work they produce during Be SmART! Lunch will be served.

Dates and Times: Monday, July 16 – Friday, July 27; 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Site: Holmes Middle School 

Grades Served: Students entering grades 6-8 in Fall 2018

Camp Covington: Get Outside and Play
Camp Covington is a dynamic 5-week program that provides students with access to academic support, fitness activities, enrichment opportunities and FUN field trips, while teaching them about the great outdoors. Students will work with experienced and dedicated educators in hands-on and engaging projects while having fun and meeting new friends! Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Dates and Times: Monday, June 18 – Friday, July 20; 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Closed Wednesday, July 4)

Site: All CIPS Elementary Schools 

Grades Served: Students entering grades K-5 in Fall 2018
